What has been the BEST thing to happen to you today?
-
I kissed my kids goodnight and told them how much I love them. Here comes the really good part: They told me that they loved me too. :)

We Moved into a new Condo, a few Months Ago. It has a Gas Fireplace. First one We have ever had in Our Married Lives. It Worked for a few Weeks and then went out, so We called a Service company. The Man came out and Cleaned it. $100, for that. He also said, " it's possible, it could need a new Pilot and for this Unit, it would have to be Special Ordered and would cost another $100, so I'm going to leave it for now and hope, You don't need the new Piece "
Fireplace worked for a Week and Went out again. I called and told them We needed, the Special part. It took them Two Weeks, to get it for us and I called them Three times, asking about it. I finally Played the Dialysis Card, and told them " My Husband is very Ill. He is Housebound, but He Loves, Looking at the Fireplace in the Evening. It would be so Important to Him, if We could get this done Before Christmas." They came out Today, with the New Part and put it in.
Works great. When the Repairman left, I had My Checkbook out and Asked, " How much? " He said, " They will send You a Bill " I thought that was strange, because the first time He came out, I gave Him a Check. After He left, I looked at the Work Order, In the corner was Written, " NO CHARGE "

oh my gosh, between these two responses, i broke down with tears.. How perfectly wonderful and precious. My good for today was going to be that with prayer and help from my 'family' here, i got through another day of canulating my hubby with no problems.. But now i will add that today, i held my grandson who melted into me with his precious loving hug, and didnt want me to leave. I love him so. And another good for the day, my hubby and i said "I love you" many times over this day and it felt good. And what about you Moosemom, how about what was good today for you?

The semester ended, and yesterday was my one day of the week to volunteer. So I woke up this morning with an entire week to do what I pleased with, when I actually felt healthy and energetic. For the first time in omigod-I-don't-know-how-long, I don't have to go to D; I don't have to go the transplant doc; I don't have to go take care of my gram, my mother or my nephew; I don't have to go to school or work; I don't have to move or pack or clean or sort; I don't have to do anything health related (except meds twice a day, of course); I don't have to do anything boring or annoying or stressful.
I am, officially, in shock. I'm trying to remember, but I think the last time I felt this healthy and had this big a chunk of time to myself was about 1999.
So I spent today baking with my sister, with more to do tomorrow at home by myself. Even better, I got to actually taste-test the goodies without testing my blood sugar or counting potassium and phos.
So anyhow, if I'm dreaming, someone unplug my alarm for me. Realizing how much has changed for me in the last year was the best thing that happened to me today and for quite a long time!

I went to PetSmart today and I've resisted buying my dog a Santa outfit because they are too expensive but today they were on SALE 50 percent off so I did it. It is so cute it made me smile all day and the best part is if you push the buckle it says "ho ho ho Merry Christmas". I love it and she tolerates it so that makes me smile. ;D

Rerun! You can't tell us that without adding a picture!!

Two weeks ago I developed this terrible itching rash. All over me. Couldnt go to the Dr. last week,. as I was on call for jury duty. Saw him on Wed. He wrote 3 RX's for my viral infection and today I got the cream to rub on it. What a relief!!! No morw itching, I feel so good now.

I have the beginnings of a cold. Made it through work for the week. But today the best thing was i did nothing all day. I did not even comb my hair! Just rested in bed, ate. Hubby brought me dinner from Baker'.
-
I bought a fab new ultrasonic humidifier. I take low dose aspirin daily, and that combined with the dry winter air gives me nosebleeds. I started using a humidifier in my bedroom, and it really made a difference, so I got another one for the living room.
-
I read posts on IHD that made me ;D and feel a little better today.
My son woke up WANTING to clean his cousins bedroom for her (we stayed the night there) hes a strange little boy isnt he? And now he wants to go home and clean some more..... eeep!

I'm crossing my fingers for late tonight's/tomorrow's best thing - I want the skies to clear at 1:30 am this morning so I can see the lunar eclipse! Please, pretty please?

Oh yeah, me too!! Unfortunately, we're under a winter storm warning until 10AM tomorrow, so I don't think I'll get to see anything.
-
No storm here, but warm and cloudy, even at 3:30 am. Shoot. Guess we have to wait for the next one in 2014, MM.

The Tree is Up, The Gifts are Wrapped, the Food is Bought and Tomorrow, the Grandkids, will Arrive ( look at My Avatar, and tell Me that's not a good thing )
Today is good and Tomorrow, will be better.
Peace and a Merry Christmas to All,
Mizar

That is a good thing, Mizar, and pinch those cheeks once for the rest of us!
I stopped by to drop off my donation to the local Gilda's Clubhouse, and stayed to help serve and clear the group's holiday party dinner. Always a good thing to help out and meet new people!

I got over the flu....finally, today after 5 days of the flu I felt so much better. I actually was able to get out tonight and finish Christmas shopping.

My son got rebooked on a flight out of London and arrived safely today!! And you are SO not going to believe this, but he was rebooked with a FIRST CLASS SEAT!! It's not even a SEAT...it's a COUCH! He asked me before he left if first class was on the upper deck, and I told him that I didn't know anyone who had ever flown first class on a transatlantic flight and had no idea there was even an upper deck at all!
We have flown British Airways back and forth from London to either Chicago or to Houston since 1984; we fly at least 3 times a year, usually at the most expensive times of the year (when school is out). We have been loyal customers for 2 decades, so I guess they pulled a few strings and got my son a first class booking. He's mildly autistic, and this was his first time travelling alone (ie, not as an unaccompanied minor who is escorted around by BA staff), and he was so proud that he did it all by himself. I mean, think about it....an autistic young man travelling by himself duriing a very chaotic situation from and to the two busiest airports in the world...negotiating passport control, the luggage carousels and then customs. I am ecstatic. This has been the best thing of the YEAR!! :yahoo;

I'm having a wonderful time here every day with my niece and nephew visiting from Florida for the holidays BUT this post of yours MM is my best thing for the day and possibly the week. I'm thrilled, not only that your son is there but even more so that he managed so well on his own. :grouphug;
-
MM thats great news! How old is your son? I dont think Ill ever feel like my baby could even play alone outside without me checking up on him every 4 mins, even when hes 10 probably even 15! lol It was scary letting him go play outside without me going out with him! I still dont at the apartment, but my dads neighborhood is like family to me, so I let him there. (blessing of a small town I guess... which is also such a curse!)
Today I woke and did Not want to steal a cig from the pack o cigs that my brother left unattended.... I mean to say, I do now that I realize I could totally steal one, smoke and nobody would be the wiser but, when I fist got up, I didnt have a craving... And I do now, but I dont want it. I want to be done, so I guess this is a good thing.
And, today, I finish wrapping gifts, Christmas will be over soon!
-
Wow Moosemom, I'm sooo jealous of your lucky son!
-
GLM, my son is 19; he's an adult, so I have to let him play outside! :rofl; He is in his second year of college; he has to take two busses from home to get to classes, so he HAS to be independent. In the UK where he lives, the availability of public transport means it is easier to be independent at a younger age. It has always been tempting to be over-protective of him because of his mild disability, but we've worked really hard to make him as ABLE as possible, and it has paid off.
Monrein, do your niece and nephew enjoy the snows of Canada? I'm glad you're having such a nice visit.
Nat, I'm jealous, too. I have saved his boarding pass; it says he has seat 1K...I usually have something like 42B. ::)
-
MM, they love it. They're 12 and 16 and they like walks at night, cross country skiing and the more snow the better. Yesterday we went and cut our Christmas tree and they weren't in any hurry to leave off tramping about in the snow amongst the trees.
-
The best thing that has happened today is reading that MM's son made it! What wonderful news.

Best thing today? I am awake, after being up until 3 am, making the last of the christmas ornaments for my family! They did NOT turn out very good, I have no idea what happened.... I think my clay is old or something? And painting them took Forever because im shaking all the time.
Im on my way to D now, got my elf hat on :) Ho Ho freakin HO Bah Humbug :P

MM,
This just says that you did your job as a parent! And your son learned the lessons well!
It is great to know that your son had the independences to manage a chaotic situation.
Now enjoy your son, family time and Christmas, and pray for nice weather when he flies back!
