Hi I'm Ash,
I am the primary carer for my mum, who has been on dialysis for 2 months.
I'm sitting here at the moment while my mum prepares for yet another hospital admission. (the 6th one this year).
Her fistula (done Aug 2nd this year) has collapsed and she is going in to have a permcath implanted.
Her Kidney failure has come as a bit of a shock to me (i found out may this year), but i think she has known for some time.
i found this forum while researching the permcath as i wasn't there when she was told the news last friday.
I've read many posts and i find it amazing to have something here where people can talk, both dialysis patients and carers. Thank you!
i have much more to say but my mums out of the shower now and have to hit the road to get her to the hospital.
thanks Ash...
p.s i will apologise for any spelling, i'm from Australia...

Sorry that you had to find IHD BUT you will gain lots of support from here. There are plenty of carers that post regularly.
And sorry to hear that your Mum is not travelling too well. :cuddle; for both you and your Mum, as I can only imagine how hard this all must be for both of you.
Looking forward to more posts from you - when you can find the time.

G'day Ash and welcome!!! DOn't worry there are enough aussies here that you'll fit in fine! :ausflag;
Your mum has had a bit of a rude introduction to dialysis it seems but it's great that she has someone like you looking out for her - thank you!!! It's so good of you to come here and try and find out more info to try and help her - I am sure she appreciates that.

Hey Ash. Glad to have you here! :welcomesign;
I'm also a caregiver to my hubby who has been on Dialysis for a little over 3 years. It was also a surprise to us. We also have been through the failed fistula routine recently and now he has a graft that we will start using this next week. Catheters are the worst for getting infections so PLEASE have your mum be overly cautious in taking care of it.
Wishing both of you the best and bless you for being there for your mother.
