Title: I swear.....
Post by: Brightsky69 on December 07, 2010, 06:32:32 PM
 :o What is up with these side effects??? I dont mean to complain or anything cause side effects of transplant medications are stil WAY better than dialysis it self.
I think it's the Myfortic that is causing diaraha. I don't get it all day everyday but I do get a bought of it at least once a day and most times I get a day off or two but then boom there it is again.
Doc told me to seperate my dose of myfortic and prograf by an hour and that did help somewhat. I have a bubbly stomach right now when I'd rather be in bed. Plus we have a frozen pipe so each time I have to go to the bathroom I have to run to the garrage and turn the water back on. Oh Joy. Thankfully the pipe should be all fixed by tomorrow.
Like I said I'd rather deal with this than dialysis.

I hear you there Brightsky. I don't miss the chair at all, but I agree, these meds are somewhat harsh in their own way. The bubbly stomach is nasty, plus the fact that prograf raises blood sugar. I been diabetic since diagnosed at age 13, I am now 50. The prograf high sugar effects me different then a "regular" high blood sugar, it comes faster, and to me is harder to get back in control. With a high blood sugar, I drink more water and then when that bubbly stomach comes on with all the fluid, well its just nasty. Don't worry about apologizing for complaining, its just the way it is and I for one agree with you.

It's no joke....
Cellcept use to do the same thing to me with my 1st transplant. So far (knock on wood) I haven't had to worry about Diabetes....one thing that works great is my pancreas.

The myfortic is giving me the same problem.  I swear I go to the bathroom 6 or 7 times a day.  I'll try separating the myfortic from the prograf and see if that helps.  I was actually on myfortic THREE times a day, but I couldn't leave the house.  It's somewhat better now, but it's by far the worse side effect.

I've spent years on dialysis, I'll take the runs any day.

I agree.....I'd rather deal with the loose bowels than dialysis. Separating the meds has seemed to help. I actually didn't have diarrhea at all today.   :sir ken;  Clean   :rofl;
