I was referred to this website by my Husband's PD Nurse. I am a caregiver of a 42 year old man living on CCPD. I am looking for other caregivers who can give me advise and support on what I can do to best care for my husband. We live in Macon, Georgia and we have had it pretty rough for the last two years. Just really sad and looking for support from people who understand what we are going through

Hi Melissa F...glad to have you join IHD! :welcomesign;
I am caregiver to my 55 yr old hubby who has been on dialysis for 3 years now. He has gone through CAPD, CCPD and in-center hemo to get to where we are now. We currently do home hemo with the NxStage system.
Dialysis IS a rough ride and being a carer can be overwhelming. But, please know that you are never alone when you are part of the IHD family. There are lots of us here in the same role and we all lean on each other. And the members here that are renal patients are a valuable source of insight into the real lives of our loved ones. So, cruise the site...read and learn, ask questions, give us your opinion when we ask questions, and above all, let us help you when you need a friend to lean on. BTW, the site is also a lot of fun.

Welcome to our wonderful supportive family :grouphug; Its a tough job this roll of ours, but with all the great people here, it has certinly made it so much better understood. Great to not feel alone in this too.
Im wife and caregiver to my hubby whos 67.. We're preparing to be trained for nxStage as well and i cant wait. Having heart and diabetic issues as well, Im hoping this will be easier on his body and heart and keep him here with me that much longer. Hope your feeling comfortable and ready to post. It will really help heal your fears..

Melissa I'm so glad someone told you about us. I'm on dialysis myself and have no caregiver. I have my 2 Min Pins and they make me smile. I have family close by and they help when I need it. There is a caregiver section that I'm sure you will find comfort in.
Come often and post.

Hello back from Atlanta, GA. I'm a CCPD patient--on a Baxter cycler. I've been on PD for 4 and a half years. How wonderful for your hubby to have you taking care of him. Remember to take care of yourself!
