Title: What life of a av fistula

Hi im khaliq,i am on hd last 1 year,i have no fistula yet ,my dialysis done by direct arty and its going ok.but i want a av fistula now,b,coz i am planing to have kidney transplant for that i must have a fistula for dialysis b4 my transplant.
i want to know how long a av fistula can be work.if i have a transplant and not use in hd for long period.aftar servel year if my transplant faild can my same av fistula use again for hd.

An AV fistula, if it's done properly and cared for properly, can last for many years.  Even when it's not being used. 

So yes, if you get a transplant and it doesn't work out for you, you should be able to go back to dialysis with the AV fistula. Just make sure you take good care of the fistula in the interim:  Don't lift heavy objects, check the "thrill" every day, etc.

I agree.

I've had my fistula since June, 2004. Started using it in July 2006 - so that's over 6 years I've had it and it's still going strong. Only had one needle blow in all that time. I've been pretty lucky I know, but fistulas can last quite a long time.
