I've been on dialysis since May of 2009 and started home hemo in November of 2009 and I wouldn't go back to the clinic for all the money in the world. The best things about home hemo are:
1. I'm in MY space and not a sterile clinic with the associated noise and smells.
2. I'm in MY den with MY computer and my TV.
3. The flexibility to do my treatment when I want.
4. Usually my wife serves me dinner (supper) while I'm doing my treatment.
5. At home they don't allow a topless nurse!
I hate dialysis...but I'm grateful for all who spent years developing the process (thank you NASA) and to all the people who take up nursing as a job. My thanks go out to each and every one of you.

Hi JohnJ and welcome to IHD. My hubby and I also do home hemo and he is so much happier than when he was doing hemo in-center.

Hi, JohnJ! :welcomesign;
Isn't home hemo GREAT?! I sat in bed and ate a sirloin steak at 1:00 in the morning one treatment last week. Try THAT at a center!

Hi John!
Would love to see how my mom would do at-home, but it isn't an option. She lives alone and can't understand all that. Glad to hear you are doing dialysis in a way that suits you better! I am surprised that no one has commented on #5 yet - but give them time! lol
