Title: A patient passed away
Post by: kitkatz on November 20, 2010, 10:17:10 PM
I was told by one of the nurses the other night in my center one of the patients I talk to regularly after dialysis coded while on the machine and passed away. It is hard to believe.  The entire staff was quiet and very somber that night.  All I could say was God rest his soul.  It hits home when it is someone you know who passes away.  He was close to my age and really bright and intelligent.  He would sit after dialysis in the front area and sort of see everyone off each morning.  We would talk food and dialysis and other things related to our lives.  So here is my tribute to him.  You will be missed my friend.

Sorry to hear of your friend Kitkatz. That's too young to go.  :cuddle;

:cuddle;  I am sorry Kitkatz. Dialysis is enough to deal with, loosing friends at your center was never part of the deal. May he be at peace.

i know just how you feel. my nocturnal shift is divided into two sections of 8 people each. i don't really know any of the people on the other side of the room. my section lost 2 people this past year. there's always someone to move in and take the spot. there are still 8 of us. it's all very, very, sad. big hugs.

I am also sorry to hear that a friend passed away KitKat. Its nothing near as worse as loosing a loved one but it sure does take second place to lose a friend who you see every time you go to dialysis. I've been on D for 9 years and lost more than a handful of close friends. There's John, McDaniels, Juanita, Fred....

Not only is it hard to deal with the loss of a friend but friends forged in the way this disease forges everyone together is especially tragic and even more so around the holiday season. The understanding between esrd patients and those on dialysis just cant be found anywhere else. Sorry you lost a friend Kitkatz.

My condolences to all who knew him.
