So William and
Kate Catherine are finally going to tie the knot.
The good thing about this? Because he's heir to the throne we'll get a day's holiday. Yippee! (Not Yippee! if it's a Wednesday - being the day I don't work - or during the school holidays - because I won't be at work ...)

I wonder if his wedding will be as big as his parents' wedding
-
Do you reckon you'll get an invite, Poppy?

I Remember when Charles and Di, got Married, I set My Alarm, for 5:00 a.m., here, in the US, to watch the Wedding.
Kate is a Beautiful Woman and She has waited a long time. Mizar :usaflag;

I did, too, Mizar!
Poppy, you may be interested to know that the upcoming royal wedding was the first story on the national news this evening. I think maybe some of the network powers that be decided it would be nice to have a lead story that wasn't about the crap economy or the lame duck congress. I was a little surprised that Wills gave Kate his mother's engagement ring, though. That marriage didn't go so well, and if I were Kate, I'm not sure I would have liked that. I'm sure, though, that he thought he was honoring his mother, which is nice.

It was the top story on our national news too, ahead of the Prime Minister deciding, without parliamentary consent, to extend our mandate in Afghanistan. So, instead of coming home to their families next summer, our troops will stay indefinitely in a training mission. At least, that's what it looked like. I wasn't really paying attention.

Boy, and its about time he got married anyways. I would have taken that ring no matter who it belonged to. What a rock!!!

Naturally!
It's been the main story on the news for the last two days, even though there's nothing to report. We'll be sick of it by the time they get round to exchanging rings.
I'm assuming that they probably talked about her having Di's ring; I'd like to think they did anyway and that she was able to choose another if she so desired. And maybe this time the ring will bring joy and happiness.
Of course, my Secret Santa recipient next year is in for a treat - there'll be a plethora of cheap tat (mugs, tea-towels, thimbles, spoons, glasses, plates, etc.) available to send ...
;D

I got a promise ring the day of Charles and Di's wedding. It didn't work out for me either. ???

Awww ...
But yay! They're smashing, this young royal couple - they're giving us an extra long Bank Holiday weekend (and it *just* falls in term time so the teaching community will actually benefit). Who says they're not 'down' with the ordinary folk?!

It was all over the news here as well. I'm sick of it all already. Really, they could just elope and I'd be thrilled.
One of my local museums has the traveling exhibit about Diana, complete with her wedding dress and tiara. Good grief, the mad crowds tripled in size once the new engagement was announced. I don't understand so many of my fellow Americans fascination with all things royal.

It is odd. Do they get excited about other royal families (Swedish, Greek, etc.) or is it only the British family? It does surprise me that it's all over the news in America. You must be having a slow news week too ...
