Hi Everyone!,
My name is Larry. I was diagnosed with PKD in 2001, and my kidney function has been going down steadily over the past nine years. My eGFR has recently reached 19, and that has triggered several things for me. I am in the process of applying to be put on the transplant list at both Florida Hospital Orlando and Shands Hospital in Gainsville Florida. I'm also scheduled for some classes in nutrition and the different types of dialysis so I can choose a method most suited to my lifestyle.
My sister and best friend's wife are both the same blood type as me, and have offered me a kidney. I hope to find one of them a close enough match before too much longer.
I know most of you have already gone through what I'm facing, and I look forward to learning from your experience.

Welcome to the group, Larry. Lots of good information and friends here. Glad you joined!

Hi lpshouse, I am about the same point you are. I also have PKD and as of last blood work in Sept was at a 22GFR, expecting it to be below 20 by Dec at next clinic appointment. This a great group, you can learn so much here and really let a rant off if you need to, they have been there and they all understand!

Welcome to our community, Larry! You are the second Larry to join us recently! This is a great place for information, support and encouragement. There is so much here to read to help you make some important decisions. I really hope that one of you dear ones is a great match. Then you can join our Hall of Fame of Transplants. YOu will soon find that this is much more than just a forum - it's a genuine family :grouphug; caring and sharing. Just keep reading and keep posting, so we will know how you are doing (in the appropriate section, of course!)
