I am Bill Moriarty from East London UK out of Hartford, Connecticut. I have lived in the UK for 13 years with my partner Dave. I have been on dialysis for 4 years. I am being treated at Queens Hospital in Romford, Essex. I have a very deep fistula on my left arm. I use a blunt needle having had channels developed in my arm. The so called button hole technique has worked wonderfully for me. I experience very little to no pain putting in needles. The quality of my dialysis has improved greatly. I feel better.
I cannot agree with the title of this forum. Of course, I much rather have kidneys which work and dialysis certainly has changed my life style. I refuse to let it change my outlook on life. It is something I must adjust to and not let it sour my life.
P.S. three people from our hospital clinic have had success this week with transplants. They are doing well. Sadly, we had a failure this week as well.

Welcome from another newbie. I think you have a great attitude. Here's what I tell people: I don't love dialysis because that would be stupid. I don't hate it because then I wouldn't do it. I just think of it as what I need to do to stay alive. Hope to hear from you again on IHD. Vera from Portland (the rose city), OR USA

Hi Vera. Thank You for your message. I think you may have put it better than myself. It is not fun, it is not something anyone would choose but I look around and I see so many people in much worse circumstances than myself. It is dialysis or death - I choose to live as long as I can and as well as I can.
Good Luck to You.
Bill

:welcomesign; Bill. What a fabulous intro. I can't hate dialysis either, simply because without it I would be a young widow right now.
My mum and dad were both raised and educated in Romford, but that was many moons ago.
Lovely to have you with us.
;D

Thank You All: Poppylicious, the grammalady, Zach, I would reply to each of you individually but can't see how to do that at moment. I will learn.
Wish we could all have Zach's diet regimen!!!

Hey, Bill, welcome to the group. I agree with you about the name, but what are ya gonna do? Glad you found us!

Glad you found us. The creator of this site was tired of being censored on other forums and wanted a place where everyone could post their views, rants, raves, and share this journey together, without being censored. For him, it wasn't being negative, just stating a fact. You will find great people here in all stages of kidney disease. And everyone is so good at supporting each other. We have bad days, but many that are filled with joy and those days give us hope to move forward. We have some members that are also in the UK. I hope you find great information and wonderful support here. Welcome to IHD :2thumbsup; Keep posting, we want to hear more from you.

Hey Bill, nice to have you aboard...I hate dialysis is a great title, but don't take it as gospel. It's said with your tongue very firmly in your cheek.
