WOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO NEO!!!!!! OMG I'm so happy for you!!!!!
-
Neo!!! I am so thrilled for you!! We will all be with you in thoughts and prayers. I am about 6 weeks ahead of you. The surgery is not bad at all. They asked if I wanted to see the new kidney in the operating room. I said YES! The pain afterwards was much less than I anticipated. I was in ICU the first day, and only used the morphine pump 4 times in 24 hours. (apparently 16 times is normal) Use it and stay on top of the pain. Then percocet easily controlled the pain. I never got above a 3 out of 10 pain level. Getting up and walking wasn't hard either. I was ready to try while still in ICU. It felt good to stretch and sit in a chair. I do think the "high" you have after surgery helps a lot. I just couldn't believe it happened and couldn't stop smiling. If I could suggest taking something with you, it would be lip balm and tic-tacs! Dry lips and mouth was my biggest problem. And that can't count as a problem compaired to kidney failure!! But, do take things easy and rest. Your body needs sleep to help heal itself. I know I am rambling, but I am so excited for you I can hardly stand it.
Is there anyone who could post here for you so we know how you are doing? You know someone has to post a picture of you holding your "golden liquid" bag before you leave the hospital?! That is the shot we all want to see!
Good luck, Neo. Your world is going to change in a couple of days. You deserve this. :cuddle;
-

You're in my thoughts, Neo! I hope you and your donor are sleeping soundly, and I hope you have a full bag of urine hanging off the side of your hospital bed!
Only on this site can we say "urine" and no one is grossed out. :rofl;
-
Yes, urine is very important to us here on IHD! :2thumbsup;
Can't wait to hear from Neo!
-
Thinking of you, Neo. But I get confused with the time difference: here in Oz I think our Friday is the US Thursday. (Thinking about it makes mt head ache ??? Anyway......hope all is going well for you
-
Got a note from Neo. He says the surgery went great. Everything is working and creatinine is 1.4. Slight problem is trouble urinating without the catheter - but he didn't pee for 6 years while on dialysis so the surgeon says hes pretty positive his bladder just needs time to strengthen up.
:waving; I hope Neo will post soon.
Congrats!! :bandance;
-
Thats very good news!!! Hope it starts up really good soon. :bandance;
-
Great news! As always, thanks for the update, Karol!!!
-
That's awesome... Thanks for the update.. I had the catheter in for a few days afterwards after both my transplants. It's the learning how to hold it again that's hard to do.. *L*
-
WooooooooooooHooooooooooooooo Neo!!!!!
-
Another IHD member with a new lease on life...how fantastic!
-
Gregory often tells me with great pride about the day he wet the bed - when his new kidney started working.
:thumbup; :thumbup;
Wishing you an easy time in recovery Neo (not fun once the morphine wears off). Gregory says it hurt for about 5 days. Maybe Neo is out climbing buildings and dodging bullets already, its more than 5 days now (gratuitous Matrix reference)
-
YEAH!! thanks for the update!! Cant wait to hear someore..
-
Hey guys! I'm finally home now.. I have a full bag of urine..lol kidney is making tons of it.. I joked with my donor and said damn you pee a lot.. LoL well so far everything has went great no problems the kidney is working great. It's just that I had the catheter out after the 5th day, peed ok for a few hours but than it got tougher to go and I had a huge urge to go. I went just only 75cc at a time. They seem to think it has to do with the fact I hadn't peed in 7 years, and the anesthesia may have affected the prostate temporarily enlarged it a bit so I'm on flomax. I had to get a catheter put back in cuz the pressure on my bladder was pretty painful and they didn't want to mess anything up. The docs say it's no biggie. They said my bladder will "wake up" soon.. I'm got home after 8 days in the hospital Thursday with a foley.. I get it out Monday so I'm hoping I can go ok cuz I really dot want another one put in.. Anyone else with a tranplant have that problem urinating? However they said everything looks great and they fully expect me to be just fine, they said this happens. And the important part is everything is going perfect. So hopefully Monday I'm done with this damn catheter cuz i feel great.. THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE KIND WORDS THE MEAN ALOT!! I'm so excited about the future!!!
-
So very happy for you Neo. Did you give your new little bean a name yet?
-
:cheer: Yay PEE!

:yahoo; :yahoo; :yahoo; Yay brill news!!!! :clap; :clap; Sooooo happy for you x x x :bandance; :bandance; :bandance;
-
I am thrilled to hear your transplant went well. Hope your donor is doing well too. Congratulations.
-
ahem. Where is the required picture of you with the pee bag??!!! COME ON YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO THINK OF US!!! :rofl;
Great news that it is all going so well - you must feel wonderful.
About your bladder - yes, I have also been told about this. When you have to restrict fluids for so long your bladder actually shrinks quite a bit.. when you suddenly try and pump so much more through it, it has to enlarge again, and this process takes time to get things back to normal.
Good luck with getting that catheter out!
-
Ok catheter is out I'm at home waiting to pee... It just came out please keep your fingers crossed.. I'm so nervous I don't want another catheter I'm terrified oF mot peeing again.. :pray;
-
Who know we could get so excited waiting for someone to pee? :2thumbsup;
-
:bandance; :bandance; Neo, great to hear you have a flow goin'!
-
Still cant pee well... Catheter is back in... :(

I know this may sound gross to some, but try standing in your shower with the warm water running down your abdomen for a while. This may relax the bladder so you can urinate --yes, in the shower.
