Hi,
I'm Adrian from Melborne Australia.
I've been looking at the site for a few weeks now, Its great to see people going through and coping well with the daily trials of D.
I'm 40yo and have been on Dialysis for 3mths. I was told a year ago I would be on D within 5-10 yrs, it doesn't always follow the course prescribed. I have a long hist of cardio issues, 3-bypass at 29, 3 MIs over the years, with the outcome severe CHF. Juvenile onset Giabetes etc.
and I have foung getting used to ESRD treatments the hardest thing I had to come at in my life. The usual things, blown fistula on first D, found out later it was a trainee nurse. Through toun sympathetic and arrogant techs.
Enough of that, I just thought I would let you all know that your posts and support for one another have truly helped me through a very bleak time.
Thanks Everyone, Adrian7

G'day Adrian & welcome! :ausflag; We all love our aussies here :)
Sorry you've had issues getting used to D, and the odd trainee nurses, and arrogant/unsympathetic nurses. I've found the usual ones in my unit are all pretty understanding and tolerant. Hoping things improve for you!

G'day Adrian and :welcomesign;.

G'Day Adrian...glad that you are on board and finding the site a help. I'm a triple by pass veteran (5 years now)and have diabetes 2 (thankfully under good control) and am 3 months into HD.It's not what I'd wish on my best friend but, rather alarmingly, I find myself getting used to it. The people at IHD have kept me going...you'll find they are a great bunch.

:welcomesign; Adrian. I think we become more accepting of things as times goes on and this helps things to become less 'bleak'. It's not easy but it is something I feel that has to be accepted - but that doesn't mean we have to like it!
Sending you a :grouphug;

Good to have you join our community!

Thankyou all for your welcomes,
I sounded a bit negative yesterday I think.
Must have been one of those days, I must admit that there have also been a lot of good and helpful people in the 3 units I have attended.
and
Murf, I am a follower of the natural enemy of the Collingwood supporter, Essendon.
Thanks all.

This Tiger doesn't think much of the dons, but does enjoy the Clash of the Sash (and the dreamtime game) :)
-
Adrian, you got 'natural enemy of Collingwood' wrong...everybody knows that it is the Sainters (my Club). We have more reason to (sorry Richard).
-
Boys, boys, boys! And, maybe, girls! All together now - who won the Premiership? C'mon, starts with a C.
-
Perish the thought that just passed through my mind...won the premiership?...starts with a C?...say no more.
-
'They know how to play the game.'

Welcome, Adrian! We have so many lovely Australian members, and there is always room for one more! So glad you've found us. :beer1;
Gidday. :ausflag; Hope you don't barrack for Collingwood.
OK, I must ask, how does one pronounce 'barrack'? Like the boot-camp accommodations, or like our esteemed Mr. Obama? I would love to get a pin that says "I barrack for Barack!" Cuz I do!
-
I say both words the same, but then we Aussies are renowned for murdering the English language!
Adrian, hope the footy talk made you smile :)
-
My mother always taught me that there are several words you just don't use in polite company, and one of those was the "C" word!!!! We've just added two more "C" words to that list!!! :rofl; :rofl; :rofl; :rofl; :rofl; :rofl;
it's cricket season (Go Brad Hodge!!!) yet footy still rules. Got to love Australia! :) :ausflag;

Welcome to our community, Adrian! And this welcome is from a member of the Commonwealth (born in Barbados, living in the British Virgin Islands). Nice to have another Aussie in our group. You have found just the place for information, support, encouragement (and some Aussie sports talk which is Greek to me!). You will soon find that this is a genuine family :grouphug; sharing and caring. Just keep reading and keep posting.
