DaVita bleaching case victim dies in Nacogdoches wreck

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - A Lufkin woman who is named as a victim in an aggravated assault case involving a former kidney dialysis center nurse has died in a Monday morning wreck.

According to a police report, Carolyn Burke Risinger, 67, was a passenger with her husband, Jim Risinger, 69, who was driving a 1993 Nissan Pathfinder shortly before 6 a.m. on the 1100 block of SE Stallings Drive. Jim Risinger left the roadway on the right and struck a culvert. The vehicle then went airborne, traveling about 75 feet  and struck a sign pole in the parking lot of Chicken Express.

Carolyn Risinger was pronounced dead at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital shortly after arrival. Jim Risinger is being treated for injuries at the same hospital.

Carolyn Risinger was a dialysis patient in 2008 when a nurse, Kimberly Saenz, allegedly injected bleach into her bloodstream.

Risinger survived that incident, and in a 2009 interview said she did not blame Saenz for the incident, claiming she thought she was DaVita's scapegoat.

This is sad.  She was on her way to dialysis when the accident occurred.
Joan: "...It was very early in the morning as she was being taken to Nacogdoches for her dialysis treatment. Carolyn was one of the most precious women I have known and it is sad she had to suffer so much due to the bleaching incident at the other dialysis clinic."
