I have a friend that is on dialysis and he suggested this site to learn more. From what I have read so far, I hear these same kinds of things from him and hope I can be better informed company! You all are made of tough stuff!

Welcome to the group. How nice of you to want to be better informed about a friend. Lots of good information here. Glad you joined.

WOW Clark, what a great friend you are to actually "look" at this site so you know more of what your friend goes through. Are you thinking about donating a kidney? No pressure, just asking.
Thanks for joining and learning. Bless you!

We're no tougher than you. We're just more unfortunate. If you faced ESRD, you'd do exactly what we're having to do.

It's good to have you here!

PS: Is your friend a member of this site, too?

Thanks for the welcomes. No, my friend is not a member, he's not a big computer person. And, no, sorry, kidney donation isn't on my agenda.
I've two friends, married, where he donated a kidney to her and it worked. That was pretty astounding. She's diabetic, and doing well. I also have a friend who took Valium for years and got a kidney from a deceased organ doner. He is much better, too.
If only there was an easier way than dialysis.

Welcome Clark, you are a special kind of friend indeed. :2thumbsup; :2thumbsup;

If only there was an easier way than dialysis.
Well, for many people, getting a new kidney via a live or cadaveric donor is easier than dialysis. When you think about it, if your spouse or your child is the one with ESRD, your life is impacted also in ways you can't begin to imagine. If you are able and willing to give your spouse or your child a kidney, your life becomes much easier, too. Dialysis affects everyone in the family.
