Title: carbon monoxide?
Post by: gothiclovemonkey on September 29, 2010, 01:53:54 PM
Does anyone know much about it? I looked it up but its kind of vague.
Today i was sitting at my dads, and his CO detector was going off, his wife said its probably not really a problem.... BUT
Here lately (ive been staying with dad) ive been really not feeling well, and having alot of trouble breathing. I had first thought maybe i was fluid overloaded, but im under my dry weight, and i dont look swollen at all. Would CM make someone on dialysis more sick than someone who is fine medically?

Gothiclovemonkey.... Jesus!!!!!...  It would make anybody become sick. Its poisnous! Get out of that house now and stay out until it is fixed. Carbonmonoxide can kill you, it is a toxic gas, its the stuff that can gently put you to sleep forever. Its the stuff that usually kills you in a fire before the flames have got to you and also its the same gas that people pipe into their car from the car's exaust in order to top themselves. I 'm completely astonished that your Dad's wife doesn't realise how it's putting all your lives at risk.

What Ken said plus why bother having a detector if you're going to ignore it.

Did i not mention how INSANE thise woman is??? shes a nut job.....
I told my dad it went off, but he didnt seem to care either,(not that it surprised me, he is the type that is very laid back about everthing) Im going to ask them today if they can test me, since ive been sick lately for no apparent reason.  The reason she said she wasnt concerned, she said it wouldnt have stopped going off if there were really a problem.  *shrugs*

YOU HAVE GOT TO GET SOME ONE TO COME OUT AND TEST FOR IT.   I AM SURPRISED YOUR MUM AND DAD ARE NOT SUFFERING. GET IT CHECKED, BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY. .

Um, aren't you supposed to call the (dishy) firemen or the gas company out the minute a carbon monoxide alarm goes off?  Even if it is a false alarm, surely it's better to let them check it out than suffer the consequences.  It could be just a small amount and the build up over time (affecting you already, due to other complications) could be fatal.

Hope it's okay.

apparently they are fine, and arent concerned with it, but im not going to stay there! they refuse to get it checked.
why are parent so stubborn sometimes? lol payback from when we were teens i suppose?
I still think somethings not right there, i am forever having trouble breathing when i go over, but they have a dog(which im allergic to), and the both chain smoke, so it wouldnt shock me thats why!
Thank you all for the posts... hopefuly one of them will gather their senses about it.

That's just crazy!  And yes, lower levels would Likely affect you sooner than it would someone healthy.  D patients are almost all anemic, and not getting enough oxygen as it is.  If you can't get them to get a clue, then at least save yourself!
