Well, Friday is my big day for the bi-lateral nephrectomy and I get a call yesterday saying my surgeon has an emergency and can't operate. But it's okay, he has another doc to cover. Could come in tomorrow (tuesday) afternoon to meet and get to know him. Sure I say, even though I start feeling my stomach knot up. I'm not real good with last minute changes. I like to pick a program and stay with it if ya know what I mean.
So, I get to the appt. today and find out the doc has been called to another hospital to "harvest a set of kidneys" but, "he should be here shortly" Well,
2 and 1/2 hours later, he's not there yet, and office was closing 1/2 an hour ago so I say I'll just go home and meet him Friday I guess. Nurse says she'll have him call me.
I understand his getting a call and that he can't say no but, how frustrating! As if I'm not nervous enough already. I did an internet check on him and all looks good but it would've been nice seeing him before I'm on a gurney waiting to go under the knife.
Thanks for listening.

Nah, I say meet him so you feel more comfprtable. The office owes you that much for being blown off on two occassions. It's ;like going to the ER and you get some doc who you don't know and he/she doesn't know you. You don't feel as comfortable with their care as you would with your own doc who knows you and your health.
I hope you can meet him and good luck with your surgery.

nope. I wouldn't go through iwth it without being able to talk to the doctor in an office setting first, to make sure all my questions are answered. As long as that consent form isn't signed, you don't have to do a thing.
