Title: Genetic testing for PKD in Australia
Post by: chook on September 24, 2010, 05:41:42 AM
I am after information on how our two daughters would go about being tested to see if they carry the gene for PKD. At present they are well and ultrasounds show no cyst development. Our youngest daughter is keen to investigate being a live donor for me and as our eldest has two little girls, I'd like to know if they may inherit PKD from their Mum. Has anyone in Australia gone down this path - I'm assuming people have - and can you give me an idea where to start?

I was diagnosed with PKD after my mom discovered she had it.  They did UltraSounds and saw the cysts.  I do not know if there is a test to see if you "HAVE IT" or not.

I pray for them, that they do not have it!  It can be very painful.  Physically and mentally.
