Title: This is so totally gross
Post by: MooseMom on September 23, 2010, 08:20:01 PM
One of those little rock squirrels/chipmunk thingies got in my house.  Come to find out, there was a little hole leading from the outside into the crawlspace which was discovered when we had someone come out and finish my laundry room (which is in our walk-out basement).  The hole was fixed, but I think the chipmunk got trapped and then died because when I opened the door to the music room (also in the basement), OMG the smell was appalling.  So I put some heavy duty odor neutralizing crystals in there and that solved that problem, but this evening I've noticed that there are a LOT of ( :puke;) flies in the house.  I've swatted at least 15 of them.  I'm here by myself (DH is teaching tonight), and I've spent a large portion of my time killing them and then disposing of their corpses.  I am so totally grossed out that I can't stand it.  I have had a truly, truly crappy year, and it just is not getting any better as it stumbles to a probably tragic end, but I thought at least I had a reasonably nice refuge from the storm of life, but no, something died in my damn house and now there are flies everywhere.

UGH! I had a huge possum die in my yard. It was like a science project gone bad because I didn't discover it right away. I took a look at the situation, then started walking back into the house when I realized I had about 400 fleas on my pant legs! They were everywhere, apparently looking for a new host. I jumped up and down and flung them off the best I could, then took off my pants and ran in the house. I hope the neighbors weren't watching.  :urcrazy;

MM dont let this be the straw that breaks the camels back. I understand how you feel, gosh darn it, you just have to have a little hole to climb into and the stinkin flies are trying to take that away from you too. Try to put it out of your mind, and let DH deal with it when he gets home.

Yup, know what you mean.  I had a rat die in the walls and it took about 2 weeks for the smell to go away.

Oh geez louise...

I'm not one for finding silver linings, but this gross-out story does have one.  My husband doesn't want to eat dinner in our smelly house, so we'll be eating out for the next few evenings!  Gives me more relaxing time!
