Title: Shameless Spamming
Post by: FindingNeverland on September 01, 2010, 02:57:50 PM
I'm on the look out for people with type O- blood who would be willing to donate a kidney. I originally had a donor lined up, it was to be my aunt but since she was last tested (nine years ago for my first transplant) she has developed high blood pressure and that automatically disqualifies you as a donor. None of my other family members were a match, except my mom but again, high blood pressure and since then she has had cancer, twice, so she's definitely not a candidate. I have a page on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/pages/Save-a-life-Donate-a-Kidney/117493384967580?ref=ts (http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/pages/Save-a-life-Donate-a-Kidney/117493384967580?ref=ts) that gives more details, perhaps some of you could pass it on, I would be grateful. If this isn't allowed I apologize to the mod and they can delete this post.

Im not sure if its allowed or not but i would say there would be plenty of other people who would also like a donor. Ive done dialysis for 7 years now and others have done it a lot longer than me. Im not on the transplant list because i want to give people like you a better chance. NO im not old , i just dont have any family, so dont see the point, when there are people out there with families. I really dont think you are asking in the right place! Lots of people on this site are desperate for donors too!  :thumbup;

Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.  Facebook has become a very useful tool for people looking for live donors and such.  I'll check out your page.  Also, if you attend church ask your preacher to do an announcement.  I met a man, 75 years old, at our first meeting to start testing to get on the list.  Shortly after I told him I found a donor he had discussed his needs with his preacher.  The Preacher made an announcement to the Saturday night church goers and he found a donor right away.  BTW, he is also an O blood type.  :)    Good Luck!!!

I don't go to church myself but from what I hear from my parents I'm on a prayer list.

Well I'm not going to sit here and beg, I was just hoping to get more views of my page and get word around, plus anyone is welcome to join it and share their story.

It's my opinion that the more people that are aware of the need, the better the chances of having your donor find you. Here are some other ways to seek out a living donor http://ihatedialysis.com/forum/index.php?topic=13917.0
I will pass on your facebook page, and tweet it too. I am happy to do this for anyone who wants help.
Good Luck!
