Hello everybody! My name is David and I am married to Fox_NC.
While I am not a dialysis patient myself, I do find that being the spouse of someone with kidney failure offers it's own challenges, fears, emotions, and rewards.
My wife and I both spend a lot of time researching information on kidney disease, dialysis, and transplants. As GI Joe once said, "Knowing is half the battle", and of course there is the other famous quote "Knowledge is power". Sometimes the best information comes from those experiencing issues as opposed to those looking in from the outside.
My wife absolutely loves this site, and frequently reads aloud to me while she is browsing the forums. She has also found answers to some of my questions here in the forums, and from other members of this site. I decided to join myself so I can experience first hand this community that she loves so much, and hope that I can contribute back in my own small way.

Welcome to our community, David! I am always so touched when the loved one of a patient makes the effort to join our group. To me, that is such a sign of caring. Please feel free to post, to ask questions, to vent when you have to. There is so much going on here - loads and loads of information, chat, games arcade. Take advantage of all that there is here. There is even a special section for spouses, etc.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Welcome again. Here is a hug from our group = :grouphug;

welcome David, I think it admirable of you to join yourself. Maybe you can give us input as to how you feel on the outside dealing with someone with kidney problems on a personal level. :welcomesign;

So this is "Mr. Fox" hehe
Big :welcomesign; to another spouse. Always glad to see more of us join. Check out the spouses/caregivers section, we can discuss different issues there. It's a small section, but growing. And of course the rest of the board is open to us too.

Hi David - nice you joined!
I was gonna say "I am a caregiver" (mom to patient Jenna)
but then I thought about the word "caregiver"...
is the oppisite of that "caretaker"...? no.....LOL
words are strange.
Nice chatting with you and Fox last night - see ya there again soon!

Hi I am a spouse too. My husband has been on dialysis for 9 years About 2.5 years on PD and up until this Sept. in center hemo. He has been on nocturnal now for almost 2 months. This is new in our area. He was the third person in the province to be trained. We have done a lot of research as well and kept ourselves informed about diet and everything. Our motto is " if you don't do your best to look after yourself nobody else is". Looking forward to reading the posts.
