My favorite is It's a wonderful life.
I like the older movies best the newer versions don't do much for me.
-
I have the BW version of Its a Wonderful Life.
My favourite Christmas movies are Home Alone1, Home Alone2, all versions of "A Christmas Carol' many more but I can't remember them now.
-
I actually cry at the end of It's a Wonderful Life even though I must watch it 3-4 times every year. Sometimes even in the summertime I will watch it.
-
My favorites (in no particular order)
A Christmas Story
Home Alone
It's a Wonderful Life
Nightmare Before Christmas

I have to agree with Sluff on Wonderful Life, it's a real tear-jerker!
I like Gremlins too for one scene only and that's where they chew the wire on the stair-lift and it sends the old lady shooting through the roof. That has me rolling on the floor every time I watch that scene. Kind of sad I know!
-
A Christmas Story - love it when his imagination goes into overdrive!
-
Nightmare before Christmas, Rudolph the red nose deer and all the TV cartoon shows that they keep showing every year since I was a kid...loooooong loooong time ago in a Galaxy far far away......
-
It's a Wonderful Life...makes me cry every time!
A Christmas Story...makes me crack up every time Fa Rahrahrahrah rahrahrahrah!
Love Actually...a new fave. I cry at the end every time when they show the different people hugging in the airport while the Beach Boys song "God Only Knows" is playing. If you haven't checked this movie out, you should. It's very funny and sweet!
-
A Christmas Story, The Grinch Stole Christmas (With Jim Carrey, was just on tonight, I watched it with my kids), all the cartoon xmas movies such as Rudolph, Frosty, The Grinch, Charlie Brown, and so on...

I watched it about twice, but I didn't know the name because I always come in after it has started. it is tremendous. My daughter and I just cried and cried. I love when the guy asks the portuguese girl to marry him. Her sister and father crack me up.
Thanks for telling me the name.

I almost forgot that one Susie q I haven't seen it in years, excellent movie.

I really don't enjoy Christmas movies that much. I'm weird like that I guess. :D :lol;

The Polar Express totally depressed me!! I came out of that theater pissed off at all the "ungrateful kids" that get all these expensive toys (cuz they expect to get them) and i couldnt get my mind off the kids that didnt have Christmas at all. I wanted to return all the Christmas gifts i had bought and donate the money to a family that had nothing, but i didnt, i just made sure i bought alot of toys for tots and it made me feel a little better, not a whole lot though, but that movie did open my eyes to alot!!

Is the Polar Express the cartoon with Tom Hanks as the conductor? If so I haven't seen that yet.

And then I make him watch "A Christmas Story" every year, which he hates. ::) On that note I saw a house on a HGTV special last night that had a custom made leg lamp for their front window. I have to have one of those!
Oh and who can go a Christmas season without seeing "Scrooged" Not me! Have you tried staples?
-
Dicken's A Christmas Carol.
I like almost all Christmas movies, but none come close to this one for me.

My absolute favorite Christmas movie is "Christmas Story". My daughter and I watch it every year, and I think it gets funnier every time.
I read the other day that some guy who loves the movie bought the actual house used in filming that movie, and has restored it to the original condition it was in then - including the leg lamp! (He also bought the house across the street to use as a giftshop.) I love architecture (esp. Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob), but if I could make a pilgrimmage to the Christmas Story House, I think that would be the ultimate treat for me.

Found the article on the "Christmas Story" house:

Thanks for sharing that with us.

My vote goes to It's a Wonderful Life ~ Just love Jimmy Stewart. As for comedy, I rate Christmas Vacation as numero uno!
-
It is definitely Miracle on 34th Street. Love Actually is pretty good as well but I also have to do a little Sleepless in Seattle.
-
My favorite holiday movies are...
Miracle on 34th street (Original Black and White)
Holiday Inn (Has many holidays in it, but it was the debut of the song White Christmas)
Scrooged (With Bill Murray)
Nightmare Before Christmas
The classic claymation versions of Frosty The Snowman, Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer, and Santa Clause Is Coming To Town
Any of the Muppets Christmas movies or specials

We always watch a Muppett Christmas carol, because it was the first Christmas movie our son ever saw. He was 6 months old and sat through the whole movie in the theater wide eyed and without crying. Kind of sentiently.

Just reading over this thread - Realized I still haven't seen "Bad Santa" - I am going to go check tivo to see if it's on soon. :santahat;
-
the one with the "grinch" guy
-
There doesn't seem to be good movies anymore. They are all cartoonish and about bad guys.
-
A Christmas Story - where Ralphie gets the gun
Christmas Vacation - where the house is over decorated
-
A Christmas Story with Ralphie and
The Simpsons Christmas episode
-
Has anyone else ever seen the little animated piece called The Snowman? It became quite popular a few years ago. Not sure it qualifies as a Christmas movie, but it is definitely one of my favorites this time of year.
