:rant; It's hard to explain, but thee days have been hard. First, I am working on establishing new buttonholes for my veinous sight because the old one developed scar tissue and closed over. My fistula, based on a shuntogram in January, looks like a corkscrew so I can only stick in certain spots. I missed the "sweet" spot and clotted the needles twice. I then moved the veinous stick down a fraction of a centemeter and the needle went in smooth and I was able to run at 400 and 450 as opposed to my regular 500. Yesterday, both needles went in fine, but I was supposed to be using a wet needle for the veinous stick and my partner was pushing the saline instead of pulling like she should have been doing. I was only hooked up for 10 min, we were upping the speed slowly and noticed the veinous pressure going up. I tried propping the needle, and the pressures were still high so I flipped the veinous needle. That was a mistaake. The veinous side infiltrated and left me with a big knot and subqutainous bloodl. Luckally today is my scheduled day off. I run 6 day a week with a 3 on 1 off schedule.
Some days it's hard to keep going. I've been on for 13 years. I've had more gistula/graft problems than I can count. I have either a fistula, graft, or b oth in my lower and upper right arm, lower and upper left arm, and right leg graft. We are currently using the fistula in the upper left arm.
Thanks for listening,
Trena
