I am new to the server. I have been on hemodialysis for 2 and a half years. I live in Edmonton and read what the other Canadians had to say about our medical here in Canada and I do agreewe are very lucky. I am a male 42 years old and am on dialysis do to high blood pressure as well as 35 years of Diabetis so I am now waiting on the list for kidney pancreas transplant. I am very happy to meet all of you and hope to help any of the new people on dialysis with any questions they may have.

Hey, Surfer. Welcome! Yes, our Medicare system is far from perfect but I thank God for it because my life would be massively different without it. Or should I thank Tommy Douglas? LOL

SilverSurfer:
:waving; from someone in Calgary waiting 4 years so far for a transplant.
Someone told that the wait in Northern Alberta is shorter than most regions of Canada.
Do you have any info on this?
There is a thread in the General Discussion called Dialyzing in Canada. Feel free to check it out.
