Hello all, My name is Micah I'm new to this site. Lately ive been interested in donating my kidney to someone but I havent gone through all the bells and whistles yet to do so, all I know about my blood is that im O positive and never had Hepatitis so i would still need to check the function of my kidneys obviously but im sure they are fine seeing as im a healthy fit 23 year old male. Ive been regestered with Bone Marrow Transplant services before and just felt like i should one up that with a kidney. But as with all donors I have concerns and was hoping maybe a few of you could help me understand. I dont have anyone to donate to and if i do i would like to get to know the person, because obviously i wouldnt want to donate a kidney to someone who is going to abuse a gift with alcohol and other no no's for a new kidney. So i geuss my question is would I be able to get to know someone before donating to them? How would I find someone to donate to? Thanks for answering all of my questions =]

Hi Micah,
Welcome! There certainly are plenty of people who would cherish your gift, and I hope you find that person.
You may want to learn more about living donation from other donors at www.livingdonorsonline.org. There's also a message forum where you can post questions.
Best of luck and thank you for posting!
