Wife Stabbed, Beat Husband, Police Say
POSTED: 10:12 am EDT June 22, 2010
CINCINNATI -- Prosecutors said a Hamilton County woman tried to kill her chronically-ill husband earlier this month.
In court Tuesday, prosecutors said Mary Bryant, 66, has been caring for her husband Everett since he suffered a stroke several years ago.
Bryant is accused of stabbing her husband several times in the head, hitting him with a lamp and trying to smother him with a pillow on June 10. She is charged with domestic violence and felonious assault.
Bryant's attorney, former judge John Burlew, said Bryant took care of her husband for six to eight years since the stroke and took him to dialysis and church every week.
Burlew said Bryant was "simply overwhelmed" and attempted to take her own life. Her husband is recovering from his injuries.
Bryant was released on her own recognizance, but must remain under house arrest.

Kind of makes me glad my ex just got a girlfriend and divorced me.....
All they need on the jury is one single person who has ever been a sole caregiver, and she's going to get the lightest possible sentence, though. It can be an incredibly stressful thing to have to do alone.

How terribly sad. The woman must have been half out of her mind to have done that, altho, I can easily see how it would.
