:oops; I don't always go by the rules...I joined this site a few months ago and have referred a number of my patients to it ever since because I see it as a valuable tool. I also have referred other team members who really get a kick out of the name of this group...I am a dialysis Social Worker in Hawaii. I've worked in Dialysis for 9 years and in medical social work since before I often want to admit! I never admit to knowing all there is to know as far as resources for my patients.... because I don't but I WILL research what I need to and try to get answers. Through the years I find that I have evolved into a Social Worker that encourages my patients from day one to live their lives to the fullest and consider dialysis as a necessity but not their whole existence. I have a group of patients that are forming a golf league. Another inquired about a bowling league. I've had many start on exercise programs....first with P.T. and then on to regular exercise. I've got the coolest group of patients that I could ever ask for and I'm glad to be here too! :cheer: :bandance;

Hi, and welcome to IHD. I'm so glad you joined. Of course you have a good group of patients the weather is always nice! I'd be happer if it didn't RAIN all the time. I swear we are going on 40 days and 40 nights here in Washington! The first cutting of hay is GONE... from rain damage! Anyway, off my rant, I'm glad you refer patients here because it is a valuable tool to put our heads together and think things through.

Mahalo for the welcomes! I tell my patients AND staff to check out this board (and some others) to see some of the issues that are being discussed not only in the U.S. but across the world so that they know that OUR situations aren't unique, for one, but that they can also get many great ideas on ways to handle universal problems in different ways. As I've skimmed through some of the topics, I realize that many of you aren't too fond of your social workers. Trust me, I'm not too fond of many myself. I've evolved through the years and I hate all the paperwork that we are required to do these days but the paperwork is not as important to ME as my patients and their quality of life. You guys rock!!! :cheer: :bandance;
