We received the letter today with the scheduling of our transplant surgeries. I post this with some reservation as we await the final results of a last minute test ordered for Colleen. The transplant team was confident enough to schedule the surgeries so I feel that this is going to happen.
I won't be posting the actual date on the internet because we have to travel out of town and I see no sense in advertising the actual dates our house will be empty. Having been burglarized before, we err on the side of caution. We will be removing all valuables from our home also as a measure of caution. Friends and family may call and email us to get the actual surgery date.
This is scary and exciting at the same time. I feel a renewed bond with Colleen. Almost like a re-committment or renewing of vows in a way. The fact that she is giving me a piece of her body to put inside mine speaks volumes about her dedication to me. Not that there was every any doubt, but the show of love and affection to do this for me is just awesome. With her gift comes a great responsibility. I have an obligation to take care of myself and her kidney to the best of my ability.
We will be staying in OKC for a while after we are dismissed from the hospital as I will have a lot of lab work for many days and they really don't want us driving or riding in cars. I will definitely have a lot to say when the transplant is completed but I suppose I won't have a whole lot to talk about until then.
Pray for us or wish us luck if you prefer,
Phillip and Colleen

I'll be thinking of you both and sending all positive thoughts your way as you embark on your new journey together. It is a huge gift to receive from someone else and I completely agree with you that it is also a great responsibility and an obligation to take good care of such a gift.
I look forward to reading the next chapter.
