Report shows growth of renal market
5/18/2010

In 2009, the global renal dialysis equipment market was valued at $5,487million and is forecast to grow at a Compounded Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 7% to reach $8,936 million in 2016, according to a new report published by GlobalData.

The dialysis accessories (worth $2,847 million), hemodialysis machines (worth $804m) and Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy machines (worth $77 million) combined make up the hemodialysis market, which was worth $3,730 million in 2009.

The HD market was the largest segment with 68% of share, and the remaining 32% was contributed by the Peritoneal Dialysis solutions segment (worth $1,757 million).

According to the report, the market is expected to be driven through 2009-2016 by the increasing prevalence of diabetes and hypertension, a rapidly aging population, and a shortage of kidney donors for transplant.
