Title: Well, it has been quite a while since I have posted anything here!!!

Hello to all my friends on here. I am sorry I have not written in a long time. As many of you already are aware of, I had my second kidney trasnplant last year on September 1, 2009 which came from a 16 year old cadaveric donor from Michigan. It was such a miracle and blessing for me and since then I must say, I am healthier and have had no complications thanks to the Lord Almighty and the positive attitude I hold with him. Before this second transplant, I suffered from severe anemia and high blood pressure. I am proud to state that none of those complications exist in my life any longer. My doctor told me that there is only a small percentage of transplanted patients that rid of high blood pressure. As a matter of fact, I suffer from slighly low blood pressure which means, a higher intake in salt and of course lots and lots of water. I have been exercising and trying to keep myself at a healthy weight.

Before my trasnplant my weight was between 114 and 117...after the transplant I woke up being 125 pounds from all the water weight gain. I must say within a week, I was down to 105 pounds. I recovered faster than the first. I could not feel better or more blessed. I must say I felt sort of bad that all the people I grew to like and became so close to have been on dialysis for years. Yet, I get there and 4 months later I receive a transplant and they remain there...I pray for them all of the time and I try not to think this way because what's meant to be is meant to be. And truly in the end, it is really all about taking care of yourself as recommended by your nurses and doctors. I did. I avoided what I needed to avoid while on dialysis and my blood work was always pretty normal. I wish I could hear from yallz again. I missed a lot of you. I hope good things have happene and I shall end this with GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU ALWAYS. <3

I loved reading your post Maritza and your attitude will be the key to helping that transplant last as long as it possibly can.  Exercise, healthy diet, lots of laughter and living life to the fullest are good things for everyone, especially transplant people.
My second transplant is going well too (Feb. 09) and just like you I think a lot about all the others in our situation and hope that they can be as healthy as possible also.
