Title: I'm new..........
Post by: tteurp on November 28, 2006, 06:05:41 AM
Hello everyone , I'm new , but you can call me Richard . I started with he-mo-dialysis on  5/20/06......after a kidney biopsy gone bad . After , of course, 20 years of high blood pressure, which had a little something to do with it . I've been on CAPD for almost two months , so far so good , phosphorous is a little high , but we're working on that . I did get a bit more lenient,with diet when I went to CAPD.  I'm 53........had 18 months till retirement , guess I'll go a little early , thank God I have a retirement . Their is just my wife Roseann and I , all the children are raised (7).....one has passed away. My Wife is a saint to put up with all of this . I've read several posts and learned a lot........thanks for everyones input......this is sort of a Team sport , more comfortable that way .
Keep the Faith ,whatever that may be ......
Richard

Welcome to our community.  I am glad to see that you got it right from the start.  This is a team sport.  I am really appreciative of all the support that there is here on this site.  Apart from support when you need it, there is also a wealth of information.  This is really the place to be.  We look forward to hearing much from you.  :grouphug;

Welcome Richard. Seven kids, wow that's pretty impressive! In a way I guess you're 'lucky' compared to some of use because you started dialysis later in life so it didn't stop you from achieving many things and enjoying a good part of your life. I'm only 29 and already two years on dialysis and there are others younger than me around here who have had to battle kidney disease as long as they can remember. I realise it's difficult for you to feel lucky at this point, but as you say, now that you've joined IHD.com, it's a team sport, and you've got the ball  ;)

 :welcomesign; Richard and Roseanne!  Sounds like you are a good team already and have now joined a great community of dialysis patients, families, workers, soon-to-be patients, and all that care and lend support your way.  You will enjoy the added freedom that CCPD will allow you.  Let us know how you are doing!

Ya exactly! WOW! 7 kids! I don't even know if I CAN have kids ever even though I have finally found the man for me. I guess the grass can always be greener on the other side of the fense though right? I was first on dialysis when I was 16 myself so ...

Anyway, even though this is not how you imagined your retirement at least you have some security. I envy you for that. I had to claim bankruptcy just a couple years ago and right now I have nothing to my name and disability pays my rent in Canada.

Well, glad you are here!!  :welcomesign; :clap; I was wondering .. how did the biopsy go wrong? What happened??

Richard no matter where you are in life (young - midlife - old) dialysis SUCKS.  So, here you are.  Thank you for joining our site.  It is informative and entertaining.  Biopsy gone bad?  Please go to general discussion and tell us about that one.
Seven kids?  Lots of donors I'd say!  JK   ;D
