Title: The UK debates
Post by: MooseMom on April 22, 2010, 01:53:35 PM
Any of our IHD British members following the debates?  What are your thoughts about having prime ministerial candidates debating on TV for the first time?  Good thing, or too American for your taste?  I sure wish our election season lasted only a month...

I started to watch the first one and fell asleep after 5 minutes. I resolved to watch the second, which was today.

I fell asleep today after a few minutes again.

Says it all really...

Too American for my tastes (no offense!) so I didn't bother watching either the one last week, or last nights.  I might watch the one next week, but Thursday is a very busy tellybox day so there may not be time ... (I have priorities, dontcha know).  The bits I've seen/heard about just seemed very contrived and rehearsed.  I'd like it to be completely random, with questions being asked which they don't have time to prepare for and which may trip them up a tad.

They could have just stuck them all (including the lesser party leaders) on Question Time every week; that would have been much better entertainment.
