Title: im teniya
Post by: teniya on April 22, 2010, 07:50:15 AM
It seems a very rude person in here thinks mommy and daddy paid for everything. Well this is my story. I was diagnosed with stage 5 renal reflux at two. I lived in a foster home from nine months till 16, they ignored and neglected my condition. When i was 8 i had an emergency surgery to fix my reflux (urethra re-implantation). but sadly for me it was too late. Kidneys had failed. Then again did no one take care of me so at 15 I got pregnant ,due to reason that have nothing to do with this site,  They failed completely. I started hemo right after i had my daughter. That went well for three years. I just decided too much time was spent away from my kid. So i switched to PD. I hold a steady job, go to school, have my own place, and raise a kid all on dialysis. Oh and ive been doin since i was 16. So there is no excuse. Everyone does take things differently. But god wouldnt put you through anything you cant handle.

OK, I stand corrected.  You go girl!   :clap;

My first impression was that you were not negative and so loved dialysis.  That pissed me off.  I apologize   :pray;

I'm glad dialysis goes well for you and that you appreciate life.  You have a daughter to live for.

Welcome to this site and don't forget on your bad days you can come sit by me.

There are lots of positive people here and lots to talk about and learn.         :welcomesign;

55 years ago we would be dead.  So yes, today for me life is good.  I don't have to go get hooked up until tonight.  And Church on Sunday lets me know where I'm going.

well since dialysis was around in the 1950's and was created in 1913 i'd assume we'd be ok fifty five years ago. lol. I 'd also like to say I love dialysis so much im going to school to be a nurse, so that I can become a charge nurse at a clinic. and im still on manuals on PD. I have a question about the cycler. if you kinda fill a pinch at the end of your draining will it be worse on the machine since you arent controlling it?

Try to ask questions in the proper spot.  You will get more action.  Go to PD home dialysis.

Thanks.

Thank you so much for introducing yourself and for telling us your very compelling story.  You are most welcome here, and I am sure there are plenty of people who will look to you for inspiration.  But I can't agree about the God thing.  One member posted a thread about a high school acquaintance who committed suicide after returning from military duty.  He was given something he couldn't handle, and I don't know where God was at that moment of his death.  But that's a whole 'nuther topic perhaps for a whole different site.

Teniya,

Under the topic dialysis discussions the fifth thread down (on my computer anyways) is a thread all about CCPD.  many good threads in there about the cycler.  Also that is where you could go to ask questions about the cycler.

How delightful to look at that gorgeous child. Sorry for all of your kidney related problems, but you seem to have overcome them. I am glad you are going to become a nurse. Oh, and BTW  :welcomesign; to IHD.

She's a little angel (and I'm not generally a kid person!).

I think YOUR attitude has a lot to do with how you have handled the adversities in your life - dialysis, teenage/single mother, being a foster kid, etc - clearly you're someone who won't take no crap and make the most of it. That's fantastic and you're proof that dialysis helps us live our lives, not control them.

Welcome!  :welcomesign;

Hi Teniya and I also would like to welcome you to IHD.  I am a caregiver to my husband who has been on dialysis since 2007.  It has it's challenges but overall, life is good.

Your daughter is beautiful!

I look forward to seeing your posts.
