Title: Hi, i'm a new member
Post by: festerovic on April 16, 2010, 03:58:24 PM
Howdy,

I'm new to the board, my name is Greg. I was diagnosed with ESRD one month ago. I've had hemo for 4 weeks, and I just finished training with PD. Doctors don't know what caused my kidneys to fail, but suspect it was high blood pressure. I'm glad there are message boards like this, I know I one of many, since it feels like the beginning of the end in many ways when I start thinking too hard about it. I really just want to get back to work and hopefully get a little normality back to my life.

Anyways, cheers.

Greg

 :welcomesign;  Greg.  Glad you found this site and please feel free to ask any specific questions you may have as you go along.  This isn't a club that any of us want to belong to but since we've no choice, IHD is a good place for both information and support.

G'day Greg and  :welcomesign;. Dialysis sure aint fun, but you've now joined a group of people who can personally relate to what you're going through and who can supply you with information and support. Stick around.

Hi Greg and welcome to IHD!  We're glad you joined us.  This is a great site for information, advice and fellowship with others who are also on the ESRD train.  My spouse was diagnosed with ESRD in 2007 and it was a total surprise to us.  We just knew he had been getting sicker and weaker over a few months time and then BOOM....we landed in a dialysis clinic.  After 3 months, he started PD which worked for him for a little over 2 years.  We are currently beginning home hemo with NxStage.  It can be overwhelming at first but you will soon find out that while life has changed, it can still be a good life.

I'm looking forward to seeing you on the boards.   :welcomesign;

Greg, welcome to IHD.  I know what you are going through.  You probably feel better than you did a month ago but the reality is setting in.  It does get easier.  You are going to have bad bad days.  On those days you have us.  Come here to vent and have people that understand and maybe even have a solution.

Thank you for joining us.

Welcome Greg! I understand it feels like the beginning of the end for you - specially since you had such a sudden introduction to kidney failure and dialysis - but we're all here to prove to you that it ain't even close to that. Just a different chapter in your life. Hoping we can help you on the journey!
