Title: Only on Peritoneal Dialysis
Post by: Lillupie on April 14, 2010, 09:23:26 PM
 Well I contaminated, touched the end of my cathater on Saturday night.
 Well I called my nurse on call and she told me to not go any further until monday and they would have to do a tube change.
 On Monday I go in and they take my blood pressure. And to our surprise that after 3 days without the cycler, 115/80! Can you believe that!

That is weird.....the part of waiting until Monday to do anything is weird.  My clinic would have instructed me to put in my emergency antibiotics and dwell for atleast 6hrs then back to normal cycler.

That is awesome about your bp.   :clap;

It happened to me one Sunday morning.  I called the on call PD Nurse and thank goodness it was my favorite nurse.  He told me to meet him at the clinic ASAP.  My husband and I drove an hour away to meet him at the clinic.  I miss him.  He is the best PD Nurse ever.

4 months later, the clinic changed their policy where they can no longer do weekends or after hours emergency.

our clinic is open 7 days at our major hospital, the PD clinic is closed but you can always go to the hospital clinic. I don't think i'd have survived 3 days without PD near the end. My creat would have been over 1800.

Glad you were ok though, as long as you stop the moment you touch you should be ok, 7 years and never had an infection (had 4 contaminated lines though)
