Title: Has anyone read the ebook The Kidney Disease Solution???????
Post by: bourqkri on April 11, 2010, 10:53:25 AM
I am wanting to know if anyone has read this book or has any experience in the step by step process.  I'm looking for feedback ~ PLEASE.

I live in Toronto, Ontario and I have been on PD since September 2008.  I am 30 years old and even after 2 years on dialysis I still have a hard time dealing with the fact that I am connected to a machine every night for 9 hours. I was told I have renal failure after being being admitted into the hospital after months of appointments from specialists telling me that nothing is wrong with me.  I was always told in the early stages that my kidney fuction would come back...boy were they wrong.  Pd has been working weel for me at least that is what the doctors tell me, howver my immune system is still too low at 120 to be even considered for a transplant.  After 2 years of hoping it would increase I am at the point where i need and want to try something else, I figure at this point what else to I have to loose.  I am looking for any feedback that you may have to help me.

Hi Bourqkri and welcome to IHD.  I personally have not read that book.  Maybe someone else can tell you more about it.

I understand your frustration.  There are days I still can't believe my life.  But, my faith teaches me to be content with my circumstances so I try.

I look forward to your posts.  Thank you for joining us.

Welcome Bourqkri,  We are very glad you joined us.  I think we all understand the feeling of wondering what happened to our "normal" lives. None of this is easy.  It does help to have a group that understands what you are talking about. I hope someone can give you some answers here.  We would love to know more about you and hope you post often.  Thanks for becoming a part of this site.  Welcome to IHD.    :2thumbsup;

I've never read the book you mention but I checked out the ad about it on the internet and it's not something I'd spend money on personally.  If there were anything to it I feel quite sure that the medical renal community in Toronto would be all over it.  Our hospitals and dialysis clinics are non profit, people are not making money off of our illness and in fact our medical system would like nothing more than to save money by getting people off of D.  I think the book is quite expensive if I remember correctly and that makes me suspicious.  You would also have to be very very careful about doing anything the author suggests that might make worse trouble for you (like messing up your bones or your heart etc) if the "cure" involves taking herbs or juices or other things.
1.  Don't ever try to do some alternative things INSTEAD of dialysis...could be very dangerous.
2.  Never take any pills or foods suggested by anyone to "restore" kidney function without speaking to your nephrologist about it.

Which hospital do you go to in Toronto?  Dr. Joanne Bargman at the Toronto General is an excellent nephrologist who specializes in peritoneal dialysis and worked for many years with Dr. Dimitrios Oreopoulos, who was a key figure in the development and promotion of PD.

I'm in Toronto also but I've never done PD.  Did they ever tell you why they felt that your function would return?
It is very hard to accept that we are kept alive by dialysis and especially for you at your age, if you are wanting to try for a transplant, then I think I'd be trying to see what could strengthen your immune system.

Frankly I disagree with monrien - the medical community is heavily invested in pharmaceuticals and high tech interventions.  The medical community works are to have natural cures that may be effective not be public knowledge - its a money loosing proposition. I have heard of this book by an australian naturopath and there may be something to it but only if you are in the early not end stage so of the disease.

If you are struggling to improve your immune system I would strongly encourage you to consider acupunture and RAW chinese herbs - after my initial diagnosis my health was improved for over a year with these modailities.
