Mayo Clinic Az is the absolute kindest, compassionate, funny, loving, smart, organized group of people I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I should be listed on April 20th! Very excited to have my donors tested next. I was told today Medicare does not cover IVIG therapy anymore, so I may have to raise $20,000.00 So if I do, I will. Just thought Id share.

It is good that you like the center so much. That will help. My private insurance paid for most of the IVIG and it was over $20,000 for each infusion. I didn't realize Medicare didn't cover it. Let us know how things go and good luck when the donor testing begins. I hope the testing goes fast and the transplant will happen soon. :2thumbsup;

I totally agree about Mayo in Phoenix. I started my screening process with them late Oct., 2009 . They did all the tests in house in five days. They have awesome lodging 1/2 mile away at the Transplant house($25 a day donation requested but can be waived if necessary). 8 days later I was approved for listing. I received my transplant Mar. 23 from my second potential donor.The awesome care you describe continues during and after as well. My surgeon(Dr. Reddy) and Neph (Dr. Hielman) are awesome and are frequent authors of papers in Medical journals. Based on some of the experiences with transplant centers I believe Mayo Phoenix must be one of the best centers in the country. Good luck the rest of the way with your journey.
