Hello all
This place is so needed and I thank you for setting it up. ;D
I turn 30 this month and have been a patient since birth. They found that only my right kidney existed, but it was small and malformed. I went on CAPD at 6 and had a transplant at 6 which lasted 1 week and another at 8 which lasted 8 months. I was then on CAPD and APD until 6 years ago when I transferred to haemo and decided that I couldn't be rebellious any longer and put my name back on call for a transplant. Unfortunately the fates had other ideas and decided that this wasn't going to be an option for me and 3 years ago I was given a grave warning and adamant refusal that to go ahead would be too dangerous. However they could have been wrong there and I am about to put a post in general discussion explaining and asking for input.
Look forward to speaking with you all soon.

Wow, since birth? That really sucks. I know you have some storys/rants to tell and we look forward to reading them. Welcome to the board and I am glad you found this site also your welcome. I set this site up for YOU! :)
Enjoy!

Have you ever read Lori Hartwell (http://lorihartwell.com)'s book Chronically Happy (http://chronicallyhappy.com)? The reason I ask is she had been on dialysis the first time when she was only 2 years old (HD though) and her life experiences and input in her book are a very good read and I figured that you could really relate and enjoy the book! :)
Glad you are here! I have been sick since birth but because of undetected reflux that wasn't discovered until I was 9. I wasn't on PD until I was 16 though and my first transplant lasted longer than your 2nd one (11 yrs) and now I am on HD. I enjoy seeing people who are young like me (I am 32). We have a lot of common ground ;)

Wow Michelle, sorry to hear that you had two very short lived transplants and so early in life as well. Sorry for my questioning but will that hurt your chances for another transplant attempt?
anyway, welcome to IHD. I hope you enjoy your stay here.
