Does anyone know if there is a law to protect the employment position of a living donor? Such as the FMLA. Would it apply to a wife taking a leave of absence to donate to her husband. I am somewhat concerned, being that it is an elective procedure, that it would not apply and my wife could be replaced in the workplace or not be restored to her original status.
If it is a chance we have to take, we will, but I was just curious as to whether there are any protections by law. I may have to consult an attorney to get the answer but I thought that maybe someone could steer me in the right direction.
Any websites or information would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!!

That's a good question - you may want to post it on the Message Board at Living Donors Online http:www.livingdonorsonline.org to get responses from other living donors.
