I had a transplant on Feb. 10 2010. I have been itching since the second night after the transplant. The DR has changed several meds around with no change. I itch every night starting at 3 AM for about 1-3 hrs. I take Benadryl and use that Gold Bond lotion. I also itch a little during ths day.
I think my Neph. is putting me on Medrol which is Prednisone today. The itching is nintense and I cannot stand it anymore. During the day when it first begins I can concentrate and not scratch and it will subside and not be as intense as when I wake up already itching. No rash just intense itching.
They have changed all meds excepy for the Prograft, Cellcept and Insulin. Has ANYONE had this and what did you do for it.

Betty, I wish I had some advice for you but I don't. I do hope you'll find an answer though because can only imagine how frustrating that would be. :cuddle;

Betty, I wish I had an answer or suggestion. I hope you find relief soon.

I would say fos but since you have a transplant that is not the case.
Good luck hope they find the problem.

Sorry if I can't remember your previous post, but is the insulin also new? I have read on a diabetic forum that insulin can cause the itchyness, but this is without the CellCept, Prednisone, and Prograf taken.
I have itchyness on certain parts of my body at different times in the same locations, but not as bad as you and my transplant dermatologist prescribed a creme to put on. I have to dig it out, forgot name and hate using it, it feels weird to me.

Sorry, I have no advice either, but I hope the Docs figure it out.

Im 7 days post transplant and have a lot of itching too. It seems to peak about 2 hours after I take pain med(percocet) . I have cut down on pain med but stilll itching. If it doesn't get better when Im off the pain med then rhe Dr. is going to look at other possibilities. Good luck as I know its very uncomfortable

Have you asked if you can take benadryl. It will make you drowsy but it may help.
