Would love to hear anyones opinion on this...
Had my transplant 3 weeks ago and now seem to always have the strangest/horrible taste in mouth. Think its maybe metallic? I never had this on dialysis and just wondering if its maybe because of some of the pills I'm on now or something else?
thanks x x

Liz, I don't know much about transplants but do know that many medications can leave an unpleasant taste in your mouth inclduding a metallic taste. Make sure you let your Dr. know.

Let's try to break it down to see what the possible cause is.
1) What meds are you on? (rx and OTC)
2) How are your labs
30 Is it with certain foods that increase it more (or liquids)
I have delt with a slight case of it, but notice it more when I am sick. My taste in foods also has changed. I no longer can eat hot and spicey foods I use to love (I mean hot)

It is definetly the meds. I was told my breath smelled metallic when I had my kidney. I am however not sure which meds would cause this taste/smell. I do know if you are on metronidazole/Flagyl, (antibiotic/antibacterial) that med will cause the taste.

I only ever had metallic breath pre-transplant...but that's an interesting point made by Lisa. How about checking the side effects leaflet that comes with your meds.
