IRISH PROVERBS
A kind word never broke anyone's mouth.
A dog owns nothing, yet is seldom dissatisfied.
It is better to be born lucky than rich.
A lie travels farther than the truth.
Never iron a four-leaf clover,
because you don't want to press your luck.
Put silk on a goat, and it's still a goat.
A friend's eye is a good mirror.
It's no use carrying an umbrella
if your shoes are leaking.
God is good, but never dance in a small boat.
Even a small thorn causes festering.
Marriages are all happy
its having breakfast together
that causes all the trouble.
Every dog is brave on his own doorstep.
Man is incomplete until he marries.
After that, he is finished.
Drink is the curse of the land.
It makes you fight with your neighbor.
It makes you shoot at your landlord
and it makes you miss him.
You've got to do your own growing,
no matter how tall your grandfather was.

Very nice. Happy St. Patrick's Day.

Oooops - the only green I've got on today is paint splatters! Ah, well, I'm Irish enough everyday - I don't have to wear green today to prove it!

those were some seriously good posts, some of which I had never heard before, so thanks for sending them. We will wear our silly Irish shirts tonight at a dinner of corned beef and cabbage, potatoes and carrots. I am half Irish, so I get an extra piece of corned beef, LOL.

An Irish Blessing:
May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
the rains fall soft upon your fields and,
until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of his hand.

An Irish Blessing:
May you be in heaven a half hour before the devil knows you are dead.
(My Grandma had that in her kitchen)
