Kidney disease claims yet another victim - Harry, my pet, my best friend, my steadfast companion for 16 years no matter what came our way. He waited for me, on my pillow every night, no matter what, no matter how long, to come join him, to cuddle with him. He was my refuge in the storm, my comfort when things were rough. Although I knew the day was coming, I cannot believe he is gone. I miss him terribly.
Rest in peace, my beloved Harry - December 25, 1993 - March 8, 2010

They are here for us to love and take care of and they do so much more for us. It is worth the sad days at the end for the 16 years of smiles, snuggles, kisses and hugs they gave us. I hope in time you will share your love with another furbaby.
:pray;

So hard on us when we lose a furbaby. RIP Harry.

RIP Harry.
That is such a beautiful picture and says it all. Look at how he is spread out doing his thing and giving his love!! You will always remember that long after he's crossed the rainbow bridge.
The comfort and support and pure love our pets give us is often underrated by those that do not understand the bond we share. I think specially with those of us that are sick and need that TLC that our pets understand this and know just when we need it the most - sometimes they understand more than we do - and they give it without complaint, without need for anything.
I read about Harry and I think of my own dear Celeste, who cuddles with me every night, and sits quietly next to me while I watch TV etc... she's always there and expects nothing more than to get cuddles when I'm up for it, and of course to be fed but even then she understands if I'm not well that that is the priority.

So sorry to hear of Harry's passing. My own Sam has been gone now 10 months and I still miss him so much. In time another furbaby will come to you and help you out. Until then, RIP Harry :cuddle;

Oh Alene, I am so very sorry. We knew how special he was and how much you both loved each other. He was a lucky cat to have been with you for all those years.
(sorry for spelling--sometimes fingers go faster than the brain)

I am so sorry...I know my cats offer me more support than my family sometimes. He did live a long kitty life and for that you can be greatfull.

I'm a dog person myself, but it's a loss of a family member. I hope you quickly only remember the happiness - it takes a while but eventually it gets to that point.

Thank you all for your kind words, they mean a lot to me. The worst is when I walk through the door at night. He would have been sleeping in his litter box (in the living room, because of his handicap and weakened state). He would hear the car pull up, the door opening and he would pull himself up and meow, greeting me and calling me over to pick him up. I have only just brought myself to remove that litter box.
Alene
(I found a couple of Harry's "baby" pics. As you can see, he claimed his spot early on.)

:( So very sorry. I was told at my Greyhound's last vet visit about 3 weeks ago that his creatinine was a little high, so I guess I should start prepairing and watching for the signs.
