Been on PD since April 2008 here with ups and downs. actually I exprerienced my third peritonitis yesterday ....
I was looking for a website like ths one and actually my nutritionist told me about it. So here I am.
My name is Michel, I am french and been living in the USA for 10 years. I used to be very involved in fitness and thats probably the reason I went kidney sick.
I work full time and work out too, leave alone with my most loyal companion, Audrey , a 8 years old black lab/border colley female that I rescued when she was a puppy.
I am on the national kidney transplant list since last year and my transplant center is Lifelink in Tampa ( high rate of success...well they told me).
Sometimes i am wondering if i should switch to hemo but most tell me i would be miserable.....Any advice on that?
A thing I learned is too stay very positive and fight the disease like a soldier...since i dont know anyone whoi could be my role model...
To any one on this board, good luck and lots of lov e.
Michel

Hello and Welcome...... I love dogs too and I have a couple of siberian Huskies that keep me going ......

G'day, Michel. :welcomesign;. I've been on in-centre HD for a few months and am finding it allright, but most PDers here seem to swear by that method. Why do you reckon the fitness thing had an adverse efffect on your kidneys?
Good to have you here. Return often, and good on your nutritionist for referring you.
You'll find a link for photos of pets on the site. Make sure you put up Audrey's photo.

:welcomesign; to IHD. Glad you found us.

:welcomesign; Michel. This is a great place for information and support which all of us kidney people clearly need. I too am curious about what contributed to your kidney failure. I look forward to hearing more of your story and recommend that you read as much as you can of the threads here, since many topics have been discussed.

Tks to you all for the nice welcome.
The fitness drugs - mostly creatine powder- got my kidneys weak. and things like hydroxicut did not help either..
I am still very grateful for being alive and able to work and enjoy life...even if meeting -dating- is kinda tough.
Having a catherer below your belly button does not help for intimacy... but it is what it is i guess and hopefully when i get a transplant, things would be better ...

Michel welcome to IHD and I'm so glad you found us. Tell your dietition to keep up the good work.
I think PD is better than hemo. More freedom. Stay with it until they tell you that it is no longer working for you. Best wishes and there is lots to read on here. Enjoy!

Hi, Michel, and welcome to the group. I've been on both hemo and PD and I much prefer PD. Much more flexibility in your life. Are you on the cycler? Hope to hear more about you.
