Since discovering this site, I feel like I am an addict. I have so much to say, so please be patient with me while I keep posting.
Yesterday I had a first. I actually felt good coming off of hemo. It was quite shocking. Since I started dialysis, at the 2 hour mark, I start getting a TERRIBLE headache, and my body usually feels like I swallowed a cell phone stuck on vibrate (I mean that, it literally feels like it is vibrating)...well, yesterday I noticed at the 2 hour mark I wasn't feeling bad. I was actually feeling very good. I asked my tech if we did anything different, even the smallest thing, in hopes that I could find a reason I felt so much better. He said he was running me under a different profile, meaning that he took most of the fluid off in the beginning v the end. I don't know if this is the reason I feel so much better, but I hope so. I guess time will tell, but do you have any thoughts?? They use a dry pack, just in case it matters. Also, I run 2.5 hours.

Have you thought about doing hemo at home..... I feel good everytime I come off and during.... In fact I feel the best I have every felt doing home hemo..... with Nxstage...... I would think you would be perfect for home hemo.....

My husband is the one that does the hemo so it's a little hard for me to understand exactly how one feels from that process but, you already seem like you are asking questions and educating yourself. That is great to hear and so very important. It's your body, be your own best advocate. One day at time.

I've also had that vibration feeling. It sucks.
Hope things continue to go good for you.

I've discovered with dialysis that it is always changing. Just when I think I have it figured out..... something else happens. So, I hope you get some relief for a little while.

yeah I hear you on that one Rerun! It drives me nuts!! Everything's stable for a bit then something else seems to go weird....
Yes, I quite like the UF profiles like 3 & 6 (or even 1) that take off more in the beginning, though currently I am not using a profile. I have found that generally I tollerate more off at the start than at the end. Probably to do with refilling or something like that.
Glad you had a GOOD session - nothing beats having a normal boring session when it all goes OK!!!
btw 2.5 hours? man I am envious. I do 5!

Really good news for you! Great to hear. I have found that taking off fluid at the same rate is best for me. But things like this vary from person to person. If its working for you, stick with it.

I do PD not hemo but im glad to hear anytime someone has a better then normal dialysis day. I hope that maybe this will be the key to you always having a decent dialysis treatment.
