Can anyone tell me why the UF (fluid drained off) varies between exchanges of bags with the same glucose. For example, when using the green bag I have drained 750ml and at other times, my UF can be as low as 450ml. When using the yellow bag, the variation has been 0ml to 350ml. ???

Good question Murf - i've always wondered too. I did ask my renal team but they couldn't give me a precise answer. Sometimes it seems as if the body knows when there's more fluid and lets it come off. It can also depend on your albumin levels - but that's longer term. May also depend on whether you drink a few hundred mls more during a day.

the yellow is going to take off the least. Green is going to take off a little bit more, even if it is going to dyhydrate you.
I hope this helps.

I kind of wondered, too. I don't know if the drains are timed or there's some way for the cycler to know when you're empty and stop draining. I do know if I have less UF one day, it seems to make up for it the next day. Life is too short to wonder about such things. I just accept it!

For my machine the drain is only allowed for 20min.
And it could also depend on how much urine output you have for the day/the around of fluid intake.
I hope this helps too!

I usualy do a manuel drain once the machine is done for the night. I will stand up in the morning for the manuel drain and i usualy get about an extra 200 UF out. Not that that is alot but it is better then being absorbed into my body.
I use yellows and get an average of about 500/600 uf a night. Once a week usualy on a weekend i will use one yellow and one green and i pull off about 1300. But i did that twice in a row once and cramped real bad, live and learn.................

Mikes UF varies between 500 and 1200. I'm pretty sure it depends on the amount of fluid you drink, loss of water in the body because of exersize etc. And of corse the fluid strength used.

My UF drain was aways in minus because my machine was set to 80% tidal. What a pain in the arse it was to do a manual every morning dancing around like a maniac! :rofl;
