I posted about my raccoon problem, which has already cost me over $500. Next I got a letter from the city I live in telling me they have re-evaluated the levees in my area and I'm now right smack in the middle of the flood plain and will need to buy flood insurance. Now my doc tells me I have a thyroid problem and need to take medicine for that. Somewhere out there a money fairy is laughing her ass off at my problems. You see, my first CD is about to mature, and I thought how nice it would be to have a little extra money in the checking account. Bah, humbug!

Well you know how things happen in groups. They should be done.

I saw the story earlier today how FEMA is making people buy flood insurance.
Sorry to hear about the troubles your having. Hopefully you don't have one of those overweight raccons (40 pounds) I saw on Animal Planet.

Hopefully it will get better in Feb. My year usually sucks in January, then gets better. Hang in there baby.
-
I sure hope it does get better in Feb. My year sucks so far as well!!
-
You can say that again...
But I've been retired a few years now and I promise you the money issues won't get much better. Guess I should be thankful I've got CDs to cash when a/c goes back, plumming, etc. needs repair, etc. and what ever happens next year.
But this thread sure is more appropriate than the daily positives (lol)... cause it really sucks so far.

I'm right there with you, Peleroja. I just had my attic inspected today for mold. I own a townhouse condo, which includes owning the attic. I have around 70% mold up there, and will need to replace my insulation. I'm told it will be better insulation, so at least that's good. So, take out the old, dry out the attic, put down some kind of chemical/paint to kill whatever mold is in the wood and prevent any new mold. Make sure all venting is done proper, including the birdholes and all that other lingo I learned today but can't remember. Then put in the new insulation, pay the bill, and be done with it! All comes with a lifetime guarantee, and that is transferable to the new owner when I decide to sell. Price tag for all this? Don't know yet, but I am willing to bet it will be a grand or 2. Guess I know where my tax refund will be going...
And, just the other day, I had to buy new tires for my car. Four tires for a car with sporty 17" wheels = $910!!! At least that comes with free tire rotation! And, that is the price *after* giving me $100 off! Oh well, at least I'm not burning rubber anymore... (just burning my paycheck, apparently!)

Dont worry, be happy.
You are getting all the bad stuff out of the way early in the year and the rest of the year will be fine!
