Is it the Prograf or the Cellcept that causes your hair to fall out and be yucky?
-
Prograf according to their pamphlet and other readings
CellCept is more GI issues
-
Oh good. I'm probably going to starting my Cellcept again pretty soon and I didn't want to go through the hair loss again. Although, I'm sure he'll start me back at the dose I was on when I was told to stop it. Or at least I hope he will.
Can you believe I have my surgery follow-up appointment on Thursday, a.k.a. Christmas Eve, morning? Lab tomorrow. F/U Thursday. ugh.
-
Been there, done that except it was Christmas day and after labs I was admitted on first time out post transplant.

Hi Kellyt
when i went of prograf and switched to certican, my hair stopped falling out and my lips stopped getting all dry and cracked,
-
Anyone know about certican in the US?
Haven't seen or heard of that one here. Is it a steriod draven?
-
Yeah, something that makes my hair grow back would be good! Volumizing mousse only can do so much. . . .
-
Hey Draven! I'm on 2 mg of Prograf twice a day now and I'm not having any side effects anymore. Thank goodness. I, too, have never heard of Certican. I'll have to ask about that.
Thanks!
-
certican is a immunosuppresent, i switched from prograf to certican, because of prograf toxicity.
-
Yep....... I am now scared to touch or wash my hair. It is still falling out everytime I touch it!!
Maybe I should ask Santa for a wig :stressed;
I am on 1mg twice a day. I too have never heard of Certican. Does it have any other names Draven?
-
This is what I found so far on the US web search:
Another name, everolimus
It was in the FDA approval process reported in an Article from Aug 2004 at: http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/12657.php
Novartis Pharma AG has received an "approvable" letter from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for Certican (everolimus) in combination with Neoral (cyclosporine, USP) MODIFIED, for the prevention of rejection episodes following heart or kidney transplantation.
However, I haven't found if this is a steroid free medication or not and no current news. All articles on Google are from 2004 on the first page for the search of the drug.
