Title: My other daughter is stuck in New York
Post by: okarol on December 19, 2009, 07:11:45 PM
Boy they aren't making it easy on us! Jenna made it home after being in 4 countries in 27 hours, but now her sister is having a tough time getting home from college in NY. She finally boarded the plane but after 90 minutes of sitting on the runway and no luck deicing the plane, they have returned to the gate and unloaded the plane. It hasn't officially been cancelled so they are waiting to find out. Poor girl, she's tired, took the 2 1/2 train to the airpot, then waited for her flight for 6 hours so far!

I hate flying. I used to travel for a living before I started dialysis. I've found that new york and chicago o'hare are the worst airports for cancellation. Best of luck with her getting home.

They taxied around again for awhile but were sent back to the gate again due to ice under the wings. Still have not canceled the flight but seems unlikely that they will get anywhere tonight.  :(

Karol, that is a bummer, but far better she stay in New York, than have theplane take off with ice covered wings. Gosh, my daughter in law is in New York right now too. Hope she gets home soon.

What about going by train to a city that does not have snow?

Unfortunately she and several thousand other college students and holiday travelers are scrambling for the same thing.
