I'm supposed to be having surgery next week to go in and create a "window" in the lymphocele so that the fluid will drain into my abdomen and be absorbed by my body. He wants to schedule it for either Wednesday or Friday. Also, they will remove and probably replace my stint. Apparently this surgery will be under anesthesia and I will spend one night in the hospital. Just before Christmas. Perfect. :thumbdown; I also think they might place a drain in the lymphocele, :thumbdown; :thumbdown; but I'm not 100% sure on that. I hope they don't. I sure hope this fixes the problem for good. :thumbup;
-
Kelly I'm so annoyed that this is coming up for you right before Christmas. BUT I am keeping all things crossed that all will be mended with this surgery. :cuddle;
-
OH, Kelly.
Bad timing. :Kit n Stik;
Hopefully you will not be too sore and back on your feet fully in time to enjoy every inch of the holiday.
And here is hoping, too, that everything is fixed spick and span! :cheer:

:cuddle; Kelly, I hope it's a good surgery and all goes well. HUGS!
-
Where is your surgery? Who is doing it? Let me know if you need anything. I assume you will be in the Med Center...
-
Kelly, hope everything goes all right for you and this is the end of it already!!!
-
Hope it all goes well Kelly.
On the positive side, look at it this way, it's a get out of cooking card for the holiday :2thumbsup; :rofl; :rofl; :rofl; :shy;
-
Best wishes.
-
Good luck Kelly hope all goes well.
-
Thanks everyone.
Vicki, I'll be at St. Lukes in the Med. Center. The Urologist is Dr. Kella with San Antonio Urologists (or Urology). I'll let you know for sure when it's scheduled. Maybe you could stop by! That would be great!
-
Scheduled for 2:30 p.m. this Wednesday. :pray;
-
Not to be a pain, but usually on the week-ends and holidays is when staff is short in hospitals. I'm not certain I would plan a surgery around them times. Just a personal opinion. :)
-
Thanks, but I didn't schedule it, the doctor/surgeon did. :) Personally if they only had one nurse on duty the one night I'm going to be there that would be perfectly okay with me. Just bring me my meds and leave me the hell alone! I hate the fact that they come in constantly to check this, that and the other. While I was there for transplant they would come in betwen midnight and 3 a.m. and tell me to get up so they can weigh me. I told them to shove it and they could check my weight after 6 a.m. (blame it on the Prednisone "roid rage"). Doctor's orders be damned! You get no rest in the hospital. :thumbdown;
-
Well I do agree with you about getting no rest in hospitals! Beings you will only be staying one night shouldn't be bad. Hope everything goes well! Keep us posted on how things are going. :)
-
Thanks Pamster. Oh how I hate the overnight stays. AND I have to do a bowel prep starting around noon tomorrow. Then nothing to eat or drink after midnight. Come on! My surgery is scheduled for 2:30 PM Wednesday and you know they'll be running late! Wednesday is not going to be a good day. :(
-
That bowel prep heck means you shouldn't/wouldn't want to eat anything after taking it. The less trips to and from the better. I hated drinking that stuf. :puke;
I agree, post tx they check on you constintly or draw blood, yet do less during the day :rofl; It maybe part why I do not like to sleep at night since I usually slept during the day in a hospital? :urcrazy; :rofl; :rofl;
-
Chris, are you talking about the citrate magnesium? That's what I'm drinking - lemon flavored. I just finished my first bottle. I was supposed to start it at noon, but I had an appointment with my post transplant doctor at 1:45 p.m. and I wanted him to confirm that I could drink this before I started. Anytime I get ANY medication or instructions from another doctor I want to check with him first. I had breakfast and lunch and now I'm on clear liquids until midnight and then no food or liquid after midnight.
How long before this stuff kicks in? I have to drink the 2nd and final bottle around 6 p.m. :puke; It took me 45 minutes to finish the first bottle.
-
That stuffs takes longer. I had the red bottle one, but forgot flavor if you want to call it that.. I thought you wer doing the other stuff they make you take to clean out, go lite I think it's called.
-
I've heard of that. Go Lightly or something. This stuff tastes like you're sucking on the sourest candy in the world. If I didn't know it was a laxative I would just think it was a sour drink. But knowing what it is makes me want to gag. :puke;
Being that my surgery isn't until 2:30 p.m. tomorrow, what would happen if I had something like a piece of homemade peanut brittle, but just the brittle, not the peanuts? Would I pass it before surgery? It's just sugar and syrup... basically. It disovles in cold water...
-
Good luck, Kelly! I really hope that this solves the problem.
I'll be thinking of you tomorrow afternoon! :grouphug;
-
Kelly not sure it's considered a clear liquid on that, but then again, they do serve popcicles that are full of sugar and coloring. I say go for it, but cautiously if they used butter in the brittle making process.
-
Kelly, suck on a piece for a moment to get the flavor. You are going to be sooooo hungry by tomorrow night. We will all be surrounding you with love and good wishes tomorrow :grouphug; Tell Charles do take good care of you :2thumbsup;
-
Ok, I had a couple of pieces of peanut brittle last night around 7 p.m. I can't imagine it would still be in my system after all I went through last night. :o But if by doing so I die on the table ( :pray; God forbid) I love you all! :2thumbsup;
It's now 8:40 a.m. here and I haven't had anything to eat (but the brittle) since noon yesterday. Well, I drank some teak and that nasty magnesium stuff. But nothing real solid. As soon as they allow I'm sending someone for some real food. I refuse to eat that hospital food! I want to :puke; just thinking about it now...
Love you and talk to you tomorrow night!
-
Do you want me to bring you something?
-
It is 4pm where I am. My prayers are all about Kelly right now. Hoping for swift surgery and quick recovery. Love you, Kelly! :cuddle;
-
Hope it went well Kelly and no that wasn't some hunk nurse in your recovery room when you woke up! :rofl; :rofl;
-
There was no hunk in the recovery room, darn it. I went back for surgery at 3 p.m. and they told my husband that I should be done by 4:30 p.m. and back in my room by 6 p.m. When I awoke in recovery (and I was barely awake - I couldn't keep my eyes open for 5 seconds) I told the lady I felt like I had to urinate. She helped me up and asked me if I had someone there with me. I asked "What time is it?" and she said "Eight p.m.". I almost fainted. I had been asleep a.k.a. knocked out in recover all that time!!! I wasn't sure if my husband was still there or not! She wheeled me to the bathroom and about at time my husband and my post transplant doctor walked in. They had both been on the patient floor looking for me for the last hour! They must have gave me mega anesthesia because I was a zombie until this afternoon.
I got in my room last night and felt like I had been in a fight and had been kicked in the stomach a lot. They did the surgery laproscopic and replaced the stint and cut a "large whole" in the lymphocele. My tummy is big and sore. And up to 15 minutes ago I'm still peeing green dye. :P But the important thing is I am peeing. My creatinine was 1.25 on my labwork done on the 7th, and labwork done this morning showed it at 1.5, but he said it's probably because I was dehydrated, not having drank anything for 32 hours or so. I'm going to have lab drawn again on Monday just to be sure the kidney is working good.
The surgeon said the surgery went well. I hope he's right. I'm super glad to be home.
-
Sorry kelly you are still going though this..hope this will help in the long run..Thinking of you.....God Bless!! Chris :cuddle;
-
Sorry Kelly, I sent the guy to the wrong room, but he said the old lady in the room was sure surprised and happy :rofl; :rofl;
Glad it went well and hope this helps you. :2thumbsup;
