So I have been squeezing this little stress ball like its my job...
Does anyone have any other suggestions? Maybe something you did or heard helps get the fistula ready? I am wondering about lifting weights or something like that.
I am in a hurry hurry hurry to get rid of this permacath ;)

Squeezing the ball is the best way to go. You will see more maturation AFTER you start using the fistula. It is very soft and easy to stick at first (but also easy to infiltrate). With use is firms up and gets tougher and larger.

Squeezing a ball works great for strengthening forearm fistulas.
For upper arm fistulas, the ball squeezing method isn't very effective. Instead, lifting a one-pound weight (a full-size can of peas, for example) will strengthen them.
Do not lift more than a couple of pounds repeatedly with that arm. Lifting heavy weights can cause the fistula to clot.

Oh, thanks for the warning! Mine is on my wrist. I will stay away from the weights for now.
Will lifting weights with that arm always cause clotting issues, or will it be ok after it matures?
